December 16, 2022

LavaMaeˣ and Starbucks team up to support community-driven mobile hygiene organizations across the United States with program consulting and grant funding

Starbucks, the world’s largest coffeehouse chain, becomes LavaMaeˣ’s newest corporate partner to invest in community-driven mobile hygiene solutions that restore dignity, rekindle optimism, and fuel a sense of opportunity for people experiencing homelessness across the United States.

“This new partnership builds upon our success investing in essential hygiene services for people experiencing homelessness.” Says Kris Kepler, CEO of LavaMaeˣ, “This funding not only provides the capital needed for organizations to launch or expand their projects but also ensures that they have the expert support needed to overcome any challenges that come their way.”

A results-driven funding model

LavaMaeˣ has been funding mobile hygiene programs across the United States since 2019 and has often been the critical piece to getting a new project off the ground, or expanding current services into more communities.

To date, the grant program—which LavaMaeˣ named the Hygiene for Humanity Fund—has allocated $425,500 in grant funding to 30 organizations across 54 cities in the United States. Since receiving Hygiene for Humanity Fund grants, these organizations have reached 54,500 people with 131,500 showers and other care services.

How Starbucks is supporting the fund

Starbucks has granted LavaMaeˣ $350,000 to scale new and current mobile hygiene programs across the United States through its program consulting and grantmaking. $110,000 is earmarked for the Hygiene for Humanity Fund--awarding four $10,000 grants, two $15,000 grants, and two $20,000 grants to qualified community-driven organizations in 2023.
